For us, it has always been an important objective to pass on experience and professional knowledge to the next generation. Next to the daily commitment for your animals’ health, we educate students, veterinarians and technical staff. Young veterinarians train to obtain a Certificate for Equine Medicine, Surgery or Small Animal Medicine here.
Since 2023, Hochmoor Equine Hospital is a recognised training centre for internships according to EBVS (European Board for Veterinary Specialisation). Six interns have the opportunity to be trained at our equine hospital at the same time, as well as two residents for the residency programme of the ECEIM (European College for Equine Internal Medicine). For more information, please visit the ECEIM website and contact , Diplomate ECEIM if you are interested.
From 1975 to 2019, we organised the Tagung über Pferdekrankheiten within the World Equestrian Fair EQUITANA, one of the most important veterinary congresses for equine practitioners in Germany and the German-speaking world. The conference was held biennially in Essen and offered a comprehensive, internationally influenced and scientifically highly interesting continuing education program. In the pandemic year of 2021, the XXIV edition of the equine disease conference, scheduled for March 20 and 21, was cancelled. Since then, Tiermedizin Hochmoor is no longer involved in the conference.
In order to maintain the exchange of experience with referring colleagues and renowned surgeons, we organise seminars and workshops for practising veterinarians in Hochmoor at regular intervals. Our own research is published in veterinary books and journals.
We also offer information sessions and seminars for animal owners at regular intervals where both behavioural therapeutic and medical aspects of the relationship between pets and humans are addressed.
